Physicists at Northwestern University in Illinois successfully trapped a single positron for months using electromagnetic fields. Gerald Gabrielse and colleagues cooled the particle from a radioactive sodium isotope and slowed it through a tungsten crystal before confinement. They aim to measure the positron's magnetic moment within the year to test the standard model of particle physics.
