A UCF-led team found experimental evidence of altermagnetism in Co 1/4 TaSe 2, a layered material that generates spin currents without stray magnetic fields. Using spin-resolved ARPES, they confirmed opposite spin polarizations in split electronic states. The tunable platform could advance spintronics, ultrafast memory and energy-efficient electronics.
