The x402 Foundation, a Linux-affiliated open-source group, is building a payment protocol for AI agents to transact via HTTP. Premier members include Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Stripe, Ripple, Google, and AWS. The foundation is hiring an executive director and has formed a technical steering committee.
