Microsoft released Azure Linux 4.0 at Build 2026, a free open-source distribution derived from Fedora 43. The distro is tuned for Azure cloud workloads and has powered Microsoft's own infrastructure since 2019 under the name CBL-Mariner. It uses the RPM package format and is curated by Microsoft.
