AT&S invests up to €2bn in Malaysia and China for AI chips

AT&S will spend €1.5bn to €2bn expanding IC substrate capacity at plants in Kulim, Malaysia and Chongqing, China. The investment is backed by long-term customer commitments, including an agreement with AMD and another unnamed technology company. Substrates are the engineered base carrying processors, growing more valuable as AI chips become complex.
