Kashmiri Artisan Turns Lake Weeds into Papier-Mache

Simran Irshad, a 35-year-old Kashmiri artisan, has developed a technique to use dried and pulverized weeds from Srinagar's Dal Lake as a new ingredient for papier-mache. This innovation addresses the rising cost of traditional paper for the centuries-old craft. She has trained around 50 women in this sustainable method, with 15 currently working with her on the weed-based products.
