How Land Rover developed the Range Rover, 1965-present

Three engineers created the Range Rover concept in 1965. The first generation launched in 1970 with a 130bhp engine, vinyl seats, and plastic floors. The 1981 four-door model and 1982 automatic transmission boosted luxury sales. BMW acquired Rover in 1994, then Ford bought Land Rover in 2000 for £1.85 billion.
