Euclid Telescope Finds New Comet

The Euclid Space Telescope discovered a new comet, C/2026 S1 (Euclid), between Sept. 16 and 24 after smudging five image sets. Developed by Mikko Pöntinen, the finding occurred while the European Space Agency mission mapped galaxies. The comet sits 800 million miles from Earth and is expected to complete one orbit in thousands of years.
