Google, OpenAI, Anthropic Plan AI Safety Body

Google, OpenAI and Anthropic plan to launch the Standards Authority for Frontier AI by late 2026 or early 2027, The Information reports. The self-regulatory body, modeled on FINRA, would set standards for pre-release model testing, safety incident reporting and auditor certification, with no government oversight. It follows a stalled White House executive order and criticism of industry self-policing.
