Google launches AI contrail prevention trial

Google, the U.K. government, and aviation partners launched Operation Blue Skies, a 30-month trial using AI to predict contrail-forming zones in the Shanwick airspace. NATS will redirect up to 5% of roughly 10,000 flights during two four-month periods. The project costs about £5 million.
