Meta Deploys MoQ Protocol for Instagram Live
8 min read
Meta begins deploying Media over QUIC for Instagram Live ingest on iOS and Android to simplify protocol stacks. This move replaces the internal RUSH protocol with the open IETF standard MoQ, which supports tunable latency and native fan-out. The rollout uses edge translation to avoid backend rewrites while the standard evolves at the IETF.
