US government shuts down Anthropic's Fable 5 and Mythos 5 globally

The US government ordered Anthropic to disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all customers worldwide citing national security. Access is banned for foreign nationals including Anthropic's own overseas employees. The government claims a small number of known vulnerabilities can be exploited to read code and fix bugs. Anthropic says the risks are limited and match capabilities in OpenAI's GPT-5.
