AI job losses hit young workers hardest, Stanford study finds

A 2025 Stanford working paper analyzed ADP payroll data covering over 25 million workers. Employment for 22-to-25-year-olds in AI-exposed roles fell roughly 13%, while workers aged 35 to 49 in the same jobs saw employment rise over 8%. Software developers aged 22 to 25 dropped nearly 20% from their late-2022 peak.
