Leaked estimates show Intel's Z990 platform controller hub die at 72.5 square millimeters, down from 92.9 square millimeters on Z890. Despite the smaller footprint, the Z990 chipset is expected to consume more power than its predecessor. The hub handles most motherboard connectivity.
