Google Maps Speedometer Bug Shows Wrong Units

Google Maps users report the speedometer switching between MPH and KPH, mostly on Android Auto, with at least one case on the mobile app. The cause and scale are unclear. Drivers relying on the display for speed could misjudge limits and face tickets. Google has not commented.
