AI brings object-level vision prosthetics closer to reality

EPFL's NeuroAI Lab has built AI models that predict brain stimulation sites to evoke images of faces and specific objects in blind users. The models are trained to map visual inputs to precise brain stimulation locations. Martin Schrimpf leads the research at EPFL's Schools of Computer and Communication Sciences and Life Sciences. The system replaces generic light stimulation with object-level visual perception. This advancement enables more meaningful visual experiences for blind users.
