The Dataflow Model paper's retrospective finds event time primacy and strong consistency aged well, but windowing and triggers overcomplicated the interface. The authors conclude streams and tables are dual representations, and analytics streaming should largely disappear into SQL, incremental view maintenance, and materialized views.
