A new theoretical study found that noise places a strict practical limit on how deep a quantum circuit can be. Noise makes parts of these circuits easier to simulate using classical computers. The study was led by researchers at EPFL, the Free University of Berlin, and the University of Copenhagen and published in Nature Physics.
