At the United Nations Open Source Week, ministers from Germany, Ireland, Morocco, Tanzania, and others outlined how open source, interoperability, and open AI are becoming conditions for national control over critical digital systems. Tanzania's Minister Angellah Jasmine Kairuki defined digital sovereignty as moving from passive consumers to active creators of technology.
