AMD to Acquire World Labs for $8.2B

AMD agreed on Monday to acquire World Labs, Fei-Fei Li's San Francisco AI lab, for about $8.2 billion in an all-stock deal. Li becomes AMD's chief scientist and an executive vice president. The lab will stay separate from AMD's chipmaking business until the deal closes later this year, pending regulatory approval, strengthening AMD's AI chip ecosystem against Nvidia.
