Ireland's Data Protection Commission fined Google €403 million for unlawfully processing user location data between 2018 and 2020. Proton warns the penalty is too small to deter: Alphabet's $73.3 billion free cash flow covers it in about 55 hours. Google received five fines totaling nearly $4.24 billion in 2025 alone.
