Huawei Showcases 7.2 Tbps NPO Module for AI Networks

Huawei demonstrated a 7.2 Tbps near-packaged optics (NPO) module at the China International Optoelectronic Exposition in Shenzhen. The company positions NPO as a more mature and cost-effective alternative to co-packaged optics (CPO) for AI infrastructure, claiming it cuts latency from 100 to 10 nanoseconds and reduces power consumption by about 60%. Huawei plans to integrate the technology into its next-generation SuperPOD AI systems.
