ShinyHunters Claims FBI Breach to Defend Reputation

ShinyHunters told The Register it hacked the FBIJobs.gov portal via an unpatched Oracle PeopleSoft zero-day, stealing thousands of personnel files with agents' Social Security numbers and home addresses. The FBI confirmed the breach Friday and is investigating. The crew says the attack was a public relations move to counter an FBI FLASH report and protect its extortion business.
