Researchers from Coveron and NordLayer found complete synthetic identities, or 'digital Frankensteins,' sold on dark web marketplaces for about $200. These packages combine stolen data with AI-generated names, deepfake selfies, and cloned voices to bypass automated know-your-customer checks. The study analyzed 362,000 posts, finding an eightfold increase in related discussions from Q1 2024 to Q2 2026.
