Microsoft engineer Andres Freund discovered a backdoor in liblzma that could compromise OpenSSH on Linux and Windows systems. The vulnerability was disclosed on March 29, causing Red Hat to issue an urgent advisory and Debian to roll back releases. Creator Theo de Raadt, who was ousted from NetBSD in 1994, maintains the code used by nearly every server globally.
