Two stacked bugs in Discord's content moderation pipeline permanently banned 8,200 users starting May 2026 for posting chessboards and Minecraft screenshots. A faulty hash incorrectly flagged grid patterns as harmful content, bypassing human review and locking bans even after staff cleared accounts. CTO Stanislav Vishnevskiy confirmed the failures and said all accounts were unbanned.
