Danfoss installed a DDP180D digital hydraulic pump in a Develon DX300LC-7 excavator to increase runtime by more than 50% and cut battery energy use by 35%. The pump replaces a conventional swashplate unit with ten individually controlled outlets that deliver hydraulic force only where needed. The upgrade uses EC-C1200 inverter, Editron EM-PMI375 motor, and MC050 controller with three 140-kWh batteries. Alasdair Robertson, senior director of Digital Displacement, says further gains are possible and optimization continues.
