Researchers from Carnegie Mellon, MIT, NYU and Stanford built Ataraxos, an AI that beat Pim Niemeijer, arguably the best Stratego player ever, 15 games to one with four draws. Stratego had resisted AI because most information is hidden. The system used just 16 GPUs and cost a few thousand dollars, far less than DeepMind's earlier effort.
