EU demands WhatsApp open to rival AIs

The European Commission ordered Meta to give competing AI assistants free access to WhatsApp, an emergency measure pending an antitrust investigation. Apple previously withheld Siri AI from the EU after failing to agree on third-party AI requirements under the Digital Markets Act. Meta had allowed third-party AI access until October, when it began charging a fee.
