Jasjeet Sekhon, DeepMind's chief strategy officer, said at UC Berkeley that trillion-dollar AI spending bets on recursive self-improvement, machines that rewrite and upgrade themselves. Sekhon admitted AI revenues don't sustain current capital expenditures. Alphabet spent $44.9bn on capital projects in one quarter and posted negative free cash flow of about $5.9bn.
