FBI Seizes NetNut Proxy Platform, Popa Botnet

The Federal Bureau of Investigation seized hundreds of domains associated with Alarum Technologies and its NetNut residential proxy service today. Industry partners including Google disabled accounts used for malware command and control after security firms linked the platform to the Popa botnet containing at least two million compromised devices. The action disrupts cybercriminal infrastructure that relies on smart TVs and streaming boxes to relay abusive traffic like account takeovers.
