Signal released version 8.30, bringing end-to-end encrypted local backups to iOS and desktop after nearly a year of Android exclusivity. The update completes cross-platform backup support, adds iPhone-to-iPhone Wi-Fi Aware transfers, and revamps Android backups to a shared format. Free hosted backups cap media at 45 days and messages at 128 KB; local backups have no size limit.
