June jobs report shows 57k payrolls amid revisions

The U.S. economy added only 172,000 jobs in May while June payrolls rose by just 57,000 after April and May were revised down combined by 74,000 positions. Leisure and hospitality lost 61,000 roles as labor force participation fell to 61.5% despite wage growth reaching 3.5%. Experts note firms add payrolls but hours remain below pre-pandemic levels while Americans not in the workforce rose to 105.8 million.
