Apple developed M2 Extreme and M3 Extreme chips for the Mac Pro but scrapped them due to high production costs and limited demand. The Extreme chips would have doubled the CPU and GPU cores of the Ultra chips. Apple also discontinued the Mac Pro this year after a 20-year run.
