Turbopuffer is replacing its vector-primary storage architecture with a new engine called v3, making the ANN index just another secondary index. The company says the change will support more query plans at greater scale, but v3 currently shows a significant performance regression from production. All CI tests pass as of earlier this month, and tuning has just begun.
