Indian Retailers Call 'No UPI Day' Over MDR

AIMRA and AICPDF have called a nationwide 'No UPI Day' on October 2, asking mobile and FMCG retailers to stop accepting UPI payments. They oppose the 0.4% MDR on person-to-merchant transactions above ₹2,000, effective October 15. AICPDF estimates the levy could add ₹7,000 Cr to ₹9,000 Cr in annual costs across its network.
