Smartphone retailers in India urged brands to replace zero-cost payment plans with regular interest-bearing loans. Zero-interest plans cost brands 17-19% of product price, inflating retail prices. The All India Mobile Retailers Association (AIMRA) said this would lower baseline prices and make handsets more affordable.
