Datadog rebuilt its Python profiler to track parent-child relationships between asyncio tasks, which traditional flame graphs flatten and misattribute. The new model reconstructs task dependency trees into stacked stacks, cutting profiler overhead by more than 60 percent while producing higher-fidelity profiles. It handles tasks that outlive their creators, attributing time to the creating task while it runs and to the awaiting task afterward.
