Sony raised the PS5 price by £90 in March. Microsoft will charge at least £75 more for Xbox Series S and X from August. The Switch 2 will also cost more globally from September. AI datacentre demand for semiconductors and memory, including a Samsung and SK Hynix deal with OpenAI, is driving component costs up nearly 200%.
