A New Default Project Structure for Kotlin Multiplatform

Kotlin Multiplatform is updating its default project structure to give modules clearer responsibilities. The new structure replaces the single composeApp module with a shared library module and separate application modules like androidApp, desktopApp, and webApp. The changes are live in the KMP wizard and require IntelliJ IDEA 2026.1.2 or newer for AGP 9.0 support.
