Google and Epic Drop Settlement, Android App Stores Coming

Google and Epic Games withdrew their joint settlement after the court signaled it would not approve it. Google is now bound by a permanent injunction requiring support for alternative Android app stores, which it plans to begin on July 22. Third-party U.S. app stores will distribute Google Play apps and pay a $5,000 annual access fee.
