Proton's report found 64 US-downloaded VPN apps owned by Chinese companies contain trackers collecting device IDs, network info, and carrier data. 25% of these apps actively track location, with 31 using shell companies in Singapore, Hong Kong, and the UK. June downloads exceeded 13 million.
