3 min read
Cilium 1.20 releases with broader Kubernetes Gateway API support, moving from version 1.4 to 1.6 to include ExternalAuth, ListenerSets, and TCPRoute. Engineers Nico Vibert and Donia Chaiehloudj describe the update as a much broader traffic management layer. The release also opens the eBPF datapath for third-party plugins and introduces automatic pod datapath selection requiring Linux 6.8 or later.
