Southchip launches the SC3606 driver chip for piezoelectric fans targeting sub-1mm thickness in smartphones. These fans vibrate at ultrasonic frequencies, run at around 30dB noise, and draw power in hundreds of milliwatts. Southchip states the device responds in under a millisecond.
