ByteDance software engineer Shashidhar Bhat built OpenSkill, an internal automation framework that reduced manual cluster work by 40 percent and idle GPU time by 35 percent. Bhat also released Carbon-Kube, an open-source Kubernetes scheduler addressing carbon emissions, alongside a peer-reviewed IEEE paper. The big-data pipelines under his team process roughly one petabyte of data monthly.
