GitHub Sponsors has distributed over $100 million to open source maintainers since 2019. The program now supports 70,000 maintainers across 103 regions, with 280,000 sponsors including Fortune 500 companies. The most recent $10 million was raised in five months, accelerating from the initial $10 million that took nearly two years.
