Obsidian's Bases plugin turned existing markdown notes into a database with minimal setup, while Notion required CSV import and manual content addition. Notion won with advanced filters, rollups, and cross-database linking, but Bases offered faster setup. Notion databases proved superior for analysis and visual polish.
