An amateur astronomer in Turkey mistook Elon Musk's Tesla Roadster for a new asteroid, temporarily designated 2018 CN41. The car, launched into space aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy in 2018, was misidentified because it was not in the astronomer's satellite catalog. Astrophysicist Peter Veres clarified the error.
