Researchers at Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) built MiPAL, a low-cost, single-element speaker using acoustic and elastic metamaterials to focus audio and block side leakage. The device directs sound across 500 Hz to 10 kHz and uses 3D-printed modular structures.
