What Is the U.S. Strategic Bitcoin Reserve?

The U.S. Strategic Bitcoin Reserve is a government-held bitcoin stockpile created by executive order in March 2025. The order treats Bitcoin as a long-term reserve asset similar to gold and prohibits selling the coins placed in the reserve. Almost all of the U.S. government's BTC is held there.
